Grand Opening

Welcome to the Grand Opening of the Darkness Rising forum-based roleplaying game. I know that some of you have seen the previous attempts at a Darkness Rising forum before, and I want to assure you that I plan to really give this one a good go before giving up on it. Very Happy

But seriously, welcome, I hope you find something you like. If you don't, let me know what your looking for and we might be able to whip something up for you. We have a feedback section up somewhere in the Clan Primer, so if you have any suggestions just drop 'em in there or feel free to PM me anytime.

Now, for those of you that have never seen a Darkness Rising (DR) board before, or heard me ramble on before, your probably thinking what the hell is Darkness Rising? It sounds like another lame emo vampire suckfest. Well we used to have vampires, but they kinda all died of starvation when the last boards were abondoned Razz

Basically Darkness Rising is the name of the setting that myself and some friends have created over the past ten or more years. It's continueing evolution really. Think of it as merely a brand name like DragonLance, Forgotten Realms or Eberron. Now your probably thinking, "Great, D&D nerds", well your right. Darkness Rising is a high fantasy world (most recently) created based upon Wizards of the Coasts Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition rules. But it's more than that!

I am in the middle of, or more like the first quarter of, writting the first Darkness Rising novel, based upon and centering around many of the characters that you will encounter as you roleplay on these boards. I plan to hopefully finish by christmas or at the worst late next April, and soon after publish it via the Print on Demand webiste Lulu.com. Ofcourse copies will be avalible cheaply through this site and a number of my affaliates.

But back on topic. Darkness Rising is the brand name for a dark high fantasy world called Terra, where much of the story takes place on the continent of Imber and occasionally the island nation of Ocena. It's not that different from many other dark high fantasy worlds, there are humans, some tigerpeople, a race of winged elves with a god complex, among others. There's an all powerful empire that's rotting from the inside out and a desert kingdom bent on tearing about the very fabric of reality just because thier church lore says the world is really a mirror.

But the key part of all this, and the entire point of this game board, are the Mercenaries. With the various nations of the lands waging war with one another or falling apart at the seams, countless very oppertunistic people have found a very comfortable place for themselves in the brave world of mercenaring... is that even a word? And that's where you come in. Mercenaries don't live very long, and we need fresh meat for the grinder every day.

So grab your sword, pack a bag and welcome to Terra brave adventurer, join a clan and join in the mayhem!

For the Darkness is Rising, the question is. What side will you be on when it falls?
